Connixt’s iMarq™ AI maintenance assistant, iBot, won two categories in the 2026 Progressive Railroading Reader’s Choice Awards: Artificial Intelligence and Existing Product-New Feature. The recognition marks the second consecutive year Connixt has received the award and the first time both categories went to the same tool.
iBot addresses two operational challenges in rail and transit maintenance: giving technicians instant access to work order history, equipment manuals, and asset data through voice or text queries, and enabling real-time translation for multilingual crews. Both capabilities are designed to reduce delays between when information is needed and when it can be acted on.
Rail and transit maintenance runs on two things: information and communication. Crews need the right information to do their jobs, and they need to be able to act on it regardless of what language they’re most comfortable working in. Most of the friction in maintenance operations comes down to one of those two breaking down: either the information isn’t there when it’s needed, or it doesn’t reach the person who needs it clearly enough to act on.
This year, Connixt’s iMarq™ was named a winner in two categories of the 2026 Progressive Railroading Reader’s Choice Awards: Artificial Intelligence and Existing Product-New Feature, both for iBot, our AI maintenance assistant. This marks the second year in a row Connixt has been recognized by Progressive Railroading readers, and the first time both awards have gone to the same tool in the same year. Both awards, in different ways, recognize iBot solving two very different problems.
The Information Problem: Why We Built an AI Maintenance Assistant
Ask any maintenance crew where their time actually goes, and a surprising amount of it isn’t spent fixing things, it’s spent finding things: the right manual, the repair history on a specific asset, an answer to a question someone, somewhere, already knows.
iBot is built to close that gap directly in the mobile app. Technicians at operations like LA Metro, RELAM, Metrolink, and BC Transit can ask a question by voice or text, in whatever way feels most natural to them, and get an instant answer pulled from their own organization’s maintenance data: work order status, repair history, equipment manuals. Beyond answering questions, iBot analyzes patterns across that data to flag anomalies before they turn into failures, and to surface where labor hours and asset costs are actually going.
The value isn’t the novelty of an AI assistant. It’s that the answers come from an organization’s own data, in the moment a crew member actually needs them, not after a search, not after a phone call, and not after flipping through paperwork to find what they’re looking for.
The Communication Problem: Why We Added Multi-Lingual Support
The second kind of friction shows up when a crew isn’t working in a single shared language. A safety alert, a repair instruction, or a compliance note that’s clear to one technician can be a guessing game for another, and that gap has real consequences on a shop floor or trackside.
As a newer capability in iBot, real-time translation lets a technician communicate in the language they’re most comfortable with, rather than being limited to whatever language the system defaults to. It’s a smaller piece of what iBot does day to day, but it removes a real barrier for multi-lingual crews working side by side.
Why Both, Together
Instant answers and easier communication solve different problems, but they share a philosophy: reduce the distance between when someone needs information and when they can actually use it, regardless of what’s standing in the way. One puts data in a crew member’s hands the moment they need it. The other makes it a little easier for every member of a multi-lingual team to participate.
Being recognized by Progressive Railroading readers for both, in the same year, tells us something specific: it’s not enough to have the right information if it doesn’t reach everyone who needs it. Rail and transit operations need both pieces working together for maintenance to run at the speed the work demands.
